The outfit plan

See what goes together.

Three event dresses, separate clothes for each travel day, and accessories that return where they fit.

Friday · Travel there

The journey there.

Pale blue crewneck sweater
Black wide-leg jeans
Navy tote
Brown and cream sneakers
  • Pale blue crewneck sweater
  • Black wide-leg jeans
  • Navy tote
  • Brown and cream sneakers

A soft blue knit with clean black denim and low-profile sneakers. The sweater stops around the waistband; the trouser line is straight through the hip before widening, with room to move through the journey.

The sneakers and tote repeat on Sunday; the clothes change.

Friday · Welcome drinks

A red dress for welcome drinks.

Red square-neck midi dress
Small gold hoops
Chocolate leather bag
Brown strappy sandals
  • Red square-neck midi dress
  • Small gold hoops
  • Chocolate leather bag
  • Brown strappy sandals

A red dress with a defined waist, fine brown sandals and a small leather bag. Small gold hoops let the square neckline and red dress remain the focus.

The brown bag returns at brunch.

Saturday · Wedding

The wedding look.

Navy satin halter dress
Gold earrings
Brass clutch
Gold evening sandals
  • Navy satin halter dress
  • Gold earrings
  • Brass clutch
  • Gold evening sandals

The formal dress and gold accessories make one coherent evening look; the neckline has enough detail already.

Check the invitation, venue and walking surfaces before choosing evening shoes.

Sunday · Farewell brunch

A relaxed farewell.

Red checked midi dress
Gold earrings
Chocolate leather bag
Tan flat sandals
  • Red checked midi dress
  • Gold earrings
  • Chocolate leather bag
  • Tan flat sandals

A red checked sundress and genuinely flat sandals feel like a relaxed outdoor brunch. The brown bag grounds the print.

Flat sandals keep this a daytime look.

Sunday · Travel home

A fresh look for going home.

White cropped poplin shirt
Navy pinstripe pull-on trousers
Navy tote
Brown and cream sneakers
  • White cropped poplin shirt
  • Navy pinstripe pull-on trousers
  • Navy tote
  • Brown and cream sneakers

A fresh white cropped shirt and soft navy pinstripe trousers make a separate return outfit. The shorter hem keeps the waist visible; the sneakers and tote can repeat without repeating the clothes.

Keep the return shirt and trousers fresh for the journey.

Then add your essentials.

These pieces are the outfit wardrobe, rather than everything in your bag. Add underwear, sleepwear, toiletries, any medication, chargers, and the undergarments each dress needs.

Make room for your actual plans.

A pool afternoon needs swimwear. A morning walk may need a fresh top. Keep a fresh outfit for the journey home. Leave room for what you’ll use.

Make it yours

Start with the invitation.

Check every event’s dress code, the forecast, and the venue before choosing pieces. A lawn, beach, or place of worship can change the shoes or coverage you need.

  1. Choose the wedding outfit first.

Try the whole look on, including shoes, bag, undergarments, and any layer you actually need. Make sure you can sit, walk, and dance in it.

  2. Build the other looks around it.

Choose welcome drinks, brunch and both travel outfits separately. Reuse shoes or a bag when they suit the occasion. Photograph the combinations so the decisions stay made.

  3. Put the looks in one Plan.

Add the clothes you’re considering to Be Well Packed, build an outfit beside each moment, and pack from the list those outfits create. You don’t need to upload your whole wardrobe.

Wedding weekend questions.

What should I pack for a wedding weekend as a guest?

Start with the invitation and each event’s dress code. Plan the wedding outfit first, then welcome drinks, any brunch or daytime plans, and both travel days. This two-night example covers five distinct outfits, including separate clothes for each travel day, shoes, bags and jewelry. Add underwear, sleepwear, toiletries, and anything your own itinerary needs.

Do I need a different outfit for every event?

You can change the look without changing every piece. Here, Friday and Sunday use different tops and trousers, while sneakers and the tote repeat. The small brown bag returns for welcome drinks and brunch. Repeat pieces where they work, without forcing every event into the same clothes.

Does this work for a black-tie or beach wedding?

Use the planning method, then change the clothes to match your invitation. This example assumes a warm-weather weekend with dressy-casual welcome drinks and a cocktail wedding. A black-tie invitation may call for a different dress; sand, grass, local customs, and religious venues can change footwear and coverage choices.

How can Be Well Packed help me plan my wedding weekend outfits?

Create a Plan for the weekend and add the events you need outfits for. Add photos of the clothes you’re considering, build a look for each moment, and use the connected packing list to see what to bring. You can start with this trip’s clothes rather than uploading your whole wardrobe. Be Well Packed is available on iPhone and the web.
